The terminal ill patient is suffering from many different symptoms. In total 70% are suffering from nausea and vomiting due to the wide spread of cancer or due to side effects of treatment. Often the antiemetic's are not able to reduce symptoms to a level that enable the patient to experience
Study design
All patients with symptoms compatible with pancreatic cancer living in the northern catchment area of the Capital Region of Copenhagen, Denmark, are referred to Dept. of Surgery, Hospital of North Zealand for further investigations. Cases diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are discussed
Long Chain-Polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) are needed to support normal physiological functions: Unlike saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, synthesis of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5 omega-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6 omega-3) from its omega-3 PUFA precursor,
- A Written consent is to be obtained from all patients before being enrolled in the study.
- Baseline Complete Blood Count , Liver function tests and kidney function tests will be obtained to assess safety to start the drug and to assess its dose adjustment.
- Two arms will be compared :
Patients eligible for the trial and having signed their consent to participate will be randomized to arm A or B.
Treatment order is randomly attributed to patients at the 1st paracentesis, after the reception of the laboratory results necessary to evaluate SAAG value. Randomization is stratified 1:1
