Prednicarbate (Hoe 777) is a corticoid without halogenic groups (see formula Fig. 1), showing a remarkably favorable split between topical and systemic anti-inflammatory or rather corticoid effects, which could be proved by means of various animal experiments after dermal and systemic application.
The derivatissation of various acidic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to 5-acyloxy-1,3-dioxolan-4-ones is described. The synthesis of the title compounds is achieved by reaction of 5-bromo-1,3-dioxolan-4-ones with the salts of the carbonic acids.
Esters of alpha-oxo-carbonic acids such as ethyl pyruvate (EP) have been demonstrated to exert inhibitory effects on the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. So far, there is no information about effects, if any, of ethyl lactate (EL), an obviously inactive analogue of EP, on inflammatory
IT WILL BE SEEN FROM THE ABOVE THAT WE HAVE STUDIED THE CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEPOSIT OF CALCAREOUS SALTS: (I) in connection with normal and pathological ossification, and (2) in pathological calcification as exhibited in (a) atheroma of the vessels; (b) calcification of caseating
The mechanism of myocardial revascularization was studied in 30 dogs with the aid of impulse carbonic acid laser after ligation of the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery. In the control group, 4 dogs died of myocardial infarction. In 26 animals laser canals were formed. The walls
(6R-[6alpha,7beta(R)])-7-[(hydroxyphenylacetyl)amino]-3-([(1-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-thio]methyl)-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4,2,0]oct-2-ene-2-carbonic acid (cefamandole) levels have been determined in human renal tissue, serum, and urine of 17 patients undergoing therapeutic nephrectomies after 3
The penetration of 14C-labelled alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n-butanol), 14C-labelled carbonic acids (formic, acidic, propionic, valerianic, octanoic, malonic, succinic and lactic acid), 14C-drugs (procain, barbital), and 14C-sugars (saccharose, xylose) into about 800 human deciduous or permanent
A C3H/HeN mouse model was established to study the pathogenesis of the human babesial parasites, WA1 and Babesia microti. To evaluate the course of parasitemia and the associated lesions, mice were inoculated intraperitoneally with either WA1-infected, B. microti-infected, or uninfected hamster red
Helicobacter pylori produces a 550 kDa, multimeric, nickel-containing urease that catalyses the hydrolysis of urea to yield ammonia and carbonic acid. The ure gene cluster, comprised of seven genes, encodes the two structural subunits UreA (26.5 kDa) and UreB (60.3 kDa), and five accessory proteins:
OBJECTIVE
Arnica montana is a widely used therapeutic plant used traditionally to treat various ailments. The objective of this study was to evaluate the botany, phytochemistry and ethnopharmacology along with special emphasis given on pharmacological activity of plant A. montana.
RESULTS
The plant
