Flavones are plant secondary metabolites with potent pharmacological properties. We report the functional expression of FSI, a flavonoid 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase-encoding flavone synthase from parsley in Escherichia coli. This expression allows the biosynthesis of various flavones from
