This study determined the influence of curing lights and modes on composite resistance to chemical degradation by various food-simulating liquids. Two different types of curing light (Halogen [H]-Elipar Trilight, 3M-ESPE; LED [L]-Freelight, 3M-ESPE) and two curing modes (standard [S]; exponential
Osteoporosis is a serious health problem characterized by decreased bone mineral density and deterioration of bone microarchitecture. Current antiosteoporotic agents exhibit a wide range of adverse effects; meanwhile, phytochemicals are effective and safer alternatives. In the current work, nine
Rats were intermittently exposed (9 to 10 h/d, 5 to 6 d/week) to controlled concentrations of single analytical grad solvents in ambient air. After periods ranging from 7 to 30 weeks the animals were perfused with glutaraldehyde and samples of nerves were processed for light microscopy of sections
Computational singular perturbation (CSP) analysis has been used to gain understanding of the complex kinetic behavior associated with two-stage ignition of large hydrocarbon molecules. To this end, available detailed and reduced chemical kinetics models commonly used in numerical simulations of
A high-temperature diaphragm valve-based comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) instrument is demonstrated which readily allows separations up to 325°C. Previously, diaphragm valve-based GC×GC was limited to 175°C if the valve was mounted in the oven, or limited to 265°C if the
Glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter in the retina, but it is neurotoxic when present in excessive amounts. The metabolic dependence of glutamatergic neurons upon glia via the glutamate/glutamine cycle to provide the precursor for neurotransmitter glutamate is well established. Since
Ligularia virgaurea is a noxious weed widely distributed on the psychro-grasslands of east Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China, but the allelopathic effects of its volatile is less known. In this study, the allelopathy of L. virgaurea volatile to 5 kinds of grasses was examined, and its chemical
For the membrane-based separation of benzene/cyclohexane mixtures, the pervaporation properties of different 6FDA (4,4'-hexafluoroisopropylidene diphthalic anhydride) based copolyimide membranes have been investigated. In order to obtain high permeability as well as high selectivity copolyimides
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) have been reported to inhibit several types of muscle atrophy via the activation of the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). However, we previously found that BCAA did not activate mTORC1 in growth hormone (GH)-deficient spontaneous dwarf rats
Vibrational energy relaxation of degenerate CO stretches of four tungsten carbonyl complexes, W(CO)6, W(CO)5(CS), W(CO)5(CH3CN), and W(CO)5(CD3CN), is observed in nine alkane solutions by subpicosecond time-resolved infrared (IR) pump-probe spectroscopy. Between 0 and 10 ps after the vibrational
OBJECTIVE
To determine the concentration of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in the human retina.
METHODS
Eye tissues were lyophilized and exhaustively extracted with heptane. The extracts were analyzed for CoQ10 by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
RESULTS
The average concentration of CoQ10 in the
