It is well-known that hypoxia induces neuronal injury; however, the mechanisms underlying this observed effect remain to be determined. Schisandra chinensis lignans (SCL). The aim of this study was thus to examine the ability of Schisandra chinensis lignans (SCL) to prevent hypoxia-induced neuronal
Schisantherin A (SchA), a dibenzocyclooctadiene lignan isolated from the fruit of Schisandra sphenanthera, was reported to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. However, its protective effect against renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in human renal tubular epithelial cells
The fruit of Schisandra chinensis has been used in the traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Accumulating evidence suggests that Schisandrin B (Sch B) has cardioprotection effect on myocardial ischemia in vitro. However, it is unclear whether Sch B has beneficial effects on continuous
Pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) in the medial layer of the vessel wall are involved in vessel homeostasis, but also for pathologic vascular remodeling in diverse diseases, such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Pulmonary vascular remodeling in PAH results in vascular
OBJECTIVE
Schisandrin B (Sch B) is the most abundant, active dibenzocyclooctadiene derivative isolated from the fruit of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz) Baillon (Schisandraceae). (-)Sch B was found to be the most potent stereoisomer of Sch B in producing cytoprotective action in H9c2 cardiomyocytes.
OBJECTIVE
To study pharmacological effects of PEC (the oral liquid which consists of Panax quinquefolium, Epimedium brevicornum, Schisandra chinensis Bail and Cervus eplaphus) on mice.
METHODS
Experiments were carried out through swimming test, step-through, spontaneous activity and sleeping
