Obstetrics is a profession where high risk and unpredictable emergency conditions are frequently encountered, potentially entailing numerous professional, legal and moral consequences. Forensic obstetrics is based on good clinical practice, state-of-the-art and ethical-deontological principles, while taking in consideration all subjects involved in the procedure of forensic expertise. The most common problems of medical expertise in obstetrics include perinatal hypoxia, premature delivery, shoulder dystocia, unnecessary medication, delivery after previous Cesarean section, breach delivery, delivery by Cesarean section and Cesarean section on demand. In addition, the obstetrician to midwife relation is discussed.
