OBJECTIVE
To isolate and identify the chemical constituents from Verbena officinalis.
METHODS
The compounds were isolated by means of chromatography and the structures were determined on the basis of physical and spectral analysis.
RESULTS
Four compounds were isolated and identified as apigenin (I), 4'-hydroxywogonin (II), verbenalin (III) and hastatoside (IV).
CONCLUSIONS
Compounds I and II were obtained from the genus for the first time.
