Traditional medicinal plants contain a wide variety of chemicals that have potent antibacterial activity. To find an alternative agent of overcoming the problems of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the antibacterial mechanism of Ponciruss trifoliata against MRSA was investigated.
The secondary metabolites such as essential oil and pure compounds (limonin and imperatorin) from Poncirus trifoliata Rafin were tested for in vitro control of phytopathogenic bacteria of Xanthomonas spp. In vitro studies showed that the oil had inhibitory effect on Xanthomonas campestris pv.
OBJECTIVE
To find biological functions such as antibacterial and antioxidant activities in several tropical plants and to investigate the possibility of antibiotic substitute agents to prevent and treat diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria.
METHODS
Plants such as Poncirus trifoliata fruit
Poncirin, flavanone glycoside, isolated from the fruit of Poncirus trifoliata, has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. In this study, the effects of poncirin on the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells were investigated. The C3H10T1/2 mesenchymal stem cells and primary bone marrow
Poncirin, a flavonoid isolated from the fruit of Poncirus trifoliata, possesses anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. However, the action of poncirin in bone biology is unclear. In this study, the in vivo and in vitro effects of poncirin in a glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIO)
