Sažetak
Nausea and vomiting are major complications associated with the administration of cytotoxic drugs. Ondansetron (Zofran, Glaxo, Inc., Research Triangle Park, NC), a 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT3) serotonin antagonist, has shown efficacy in managing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting without extrapyramidal side effects. The author provides an overview of recent studies and manufacturer's administration recommendations, as well as guidelines for nursing care and patient teaching.
