Hematoma, Subdural, Chronic

Curcumin (turmeric extract), over the counter supplement (1 capsule/three times a day). According to the Company, each capsule contains: 270 mg of pure curcuminoids (curcumin) and 3 mg of black pepper extract. Recommended serving size is 3 capsules per day in total, the patients will receive 810 mg of pure curcumin and 9 mg of black pepper extract (peperine/BioPerine) per day.

Curcumin Pill

The placebo pill is a vegetarian cellulose capsule, with cellulose powder inside. The composition is cellulose and magnesium stearate.

This is an experimental study, each consented subject will be instructed that he/she will be randomized to either the placebo group or the curcumin group.

This is a double-blinded, randomized placebo-controlled pilot study. The patients, neurosurgeons, nurses and clinical coordinators will be blinded except for the research pharmacists who will keep a key linking a code # on a bottle handed to the clinical coordinator and the patient's medical record number (MRN #). The pill bottles handed to the clinical coordinator will be identical for placebo and CC.

Adult patients presenting in one of the study locations and being diagnosed with intracerebral hemorrhage. The onset of the conditions is establised as sonner than 8h.
Clinical evaluations will be performed, along with collecting venous blood samples for determining point-of-care bio-markers and biological parameters.
Participants will be assessed (clinically or by telephone) over a period of 180 days.

Venous blood samples will be collected from patients who have suffered a spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage less than 8h ago. Point-of-care bio-markers will be assessed by using an immunoanalyzer in the Emergency Department. From the blood samples used for determining the other biological parameters (CBC, biochemistry, coagulogram).

Cerebral Hemorrhage

Clinical evaluations will be performed, along with collecting venous blood samples for determining point-of-care bio-markers and biological parameters.
Participants will be assessed (clinically or by telephone) over a period of 180 days.

Systemic Blood Pressure will be monitored every minute for the first 30 mins, at 45 and 6 mins and then hourly for 6 hours of treatment. ICP will be monitored every 5 minutes from start of infusion up to 6 hours of treatment

Will be looking at the "Time to target" (below the CCP threshold and Percent time within the target CCP range) to assess whether clevidipine is safe and effective for rapidly controlling blood pressure to achieve desired cerebral perfusion pressure (CCP).
