PROCEDURES DURING PREGNANCY
During the first antenatal care visit the mother will have a gestational dating ultrasound to determine the accurate gestational age. During all antenatal care visits information about the mother will be collected as part of standard obstetric care:

Study Objective(s):
Primary Objectives:
1. Determine the population-based incidence of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) defined as isolation of S. pneumoniae from a normally sterile site in children 28 days to 36 months of age with signs and symptoms of disease
2. Describe the serotype
About 100 patients aged several months to 50 years are treated in the Pediatric Hematology Unit, most of those patients receive blood transfusions monthly. The adverse reactions were routinely recorded during each transfusion. All the patients were also screened annually for the incidence of blood
