OBJECTIVE
To study the phenolic constituents of Dendrobium aphyllum.
METHODS
Various chromatographic techniques were used to isolate and purify the constituents, their physico-chemical properties and spectral data were employed to elucidate their structures.
RESULTS
Nine bibenzyls and two
Two novel bibenzyl trigonopols A (1) and B (2), together with seven known compounds, gigantol (3), tristin (4), moscatin (5), hircinol (6), naringenin (7), 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-propen-1-ol (8), and ( - )-syringaresinol (9), have been isolated from the stems of Dendrobium trigonopus, of
A new 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene,1,5-dihydroxy-3,4,7-trimethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene (1) was isolated and identified from the whole plants of Dendrobium moniliforme, as well as 24 known compounds including hircinol (2),
A number of Dendrobium species (Orchidaceae) have been used as health foods. In Thailand, the tea prepared from the stems of Dendrobium draconis Rchb.f. (Orchidaceae) has been used as a blood tonic. Our phytochemical investigation of this plant led to the isolation of a new compound namely
Chemical investigation of Flickingeria fimbriata (Bl.) Hawkes (Orchidaceae) resulted in the isolation and identification of one new dihydrophenanthrene, 1,2,5,6,7-pentamethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene (1), together with seven known dihydrophenanthrenes, erianthridin (2), coelonin (3),
