consists in provoke a sudden change of position: with the eyes open and looking forward; shifts quickly from the sitting position with the head leaning 45 degrees to one of the sides, with the head hanging. Sits again and perform the same procedure to the opposite side. The maneuver is executed initially to the side where the patient related dizziness while the change of the position of the head. When the individual is not able to recognize in which side the dizziness occurs, the investigators have begun the maneuver on the right side, in order to standardize the test. All the stages of the test must be performed with 40 seconds gap (CAMPOS et al., 2006; HERDMAN; 2003).

Scrubbing and draping of the patient will be carried out in a standard fashion for intra oral procedures.

Impact of 'Gutkha and Pan Masala Ban' in the State of Maharashtra on Users and Vendors

The person who has quit consuming Gutkha / Pan Masala (has not consumed it at least for a month) after 3 months will be considered as quitter of the habit.

Verbal assessment will be done to enquire about reduction in consumption of Gutkha / Pan Masala after 3 months from the date of ban i. e. 19th July 2012 as compared to his / her consumption habit pripor to the enforcement of ban

Assessment was done to find out if the user is getting Gutkha / Pan Masala at least after 3 months of ban (may be through various ways such as at increased price, through illicit trade, in other formats to be mixed and consumed, etc.)

Awareness about the Gutkha and Pan Masala ban and the sources of information were assessed.

Verbal assessment was done to find out any type of withdrawal symptoms experienced by the quitter 1 month after quitting the habit of Gutkha and Pan masala consumption.
