The histogenesis of histiocytoma (dermatofibroma) was investigated using new antibodies that demonstrate factor XIIIa (FXIIIa) positive cells and the monocyte macrophage cell series (MAC 387), in formalin fixed tissue. The distribution of S100 protein, vimentin and Ulex europaeus agglutinin I
We present a case of a congenital angiomatoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma. This rapidly growing lesion, which was located in the subcutis of the left upper arm, was excised at the age of 8 1/2 months. The patient, a girl, was well and free of disease 10 months after surgical removal of the tumor.
A histologic, immunohistochemical, and DNA ploidy analyses were performed on two cases of angiomatoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma to ascertain the histogenesis and relationship of endothelial, histiocytic, and fibroblastic elements. Both cases were slowly growing, grossly encapsulated.
OBJECTIVE
To describe the clinicopathological features of 33 aneurysmal fibrous histiocytomas (AFH), including five cases with a haemangiopericytoma-like pattern.
METHODS
Thirty three cases of AFH were studied by using routine histology and immunohistochemistry for factor XIIIa, the "cell activity
Primary sarcomas of the major blood vessels can be classified based on location in relationship to the wall or by histologic type. Angiosarcomas are malignant neoplasms that arise from the endothelial lining of the blood vessels; those arising in the intimal compartment of pulmonary artery are rare.
BACKGROUND
Thirty-one gliosarcomas (25 nonirradiated and 6 postirradiated tumors) were selected based on the presence of two distinctive areas: a malignant gliomatous and a sarcomatous component. In all cases, the sarcomatous component appears like fibrosarcoma or malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Two
Postirradiation sarcomas are an unusual but well-recognized late effect of cancer therapy. In this article, a fine-needle aspiration (FNA) series of four cases is presented. There were three female patients and one male patient, with an age range of 28-55 yr (mean, 41). Two of the patients were
Sarcoma and normal tissue plasma membrane lectin-reactive glycoproteins were analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Two peanut agglutinin-reactive N-acetylgalactosamine-containing glycoproteins of 1.05 x 10(6) and 1.25 x 10(5) Da and one lentil agglutinin-reactive
The accurate immunohistochemical diagnosis of epithelioid angiosarcoma--as distinct from carcinomas and other epithelioid neoplasms--is hindered by the lack of endothelial-selective reagents that are both sensitive and specific. To evaluate the potential utility of an "epithelial-specific" and an
