The subchronic toxicity of n-butyl acetate (nBA), a common industrial solvent, was tested in rats in a 13-week inhalation study. Male and female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were exposed to concentrations of 0, 500, 1500 or 3000 ppm nBA for 6 h per day, 5 days per week for 13 consecutive weeks.
A single i.m. injection of 66 mg/kg prednisolone tertiary butyl acetate given on the 1st day of life produced glomerular degeneration and collecting duct and proximal tubule cysts in rat kidneys. There was evidence of delayed nephrogenesis leading to persistance of the neogenic zone.
OBJECTIVE
This study determined whether performance in neurobehavioral tests deteriorates during subjectively annoying chemical challenge below known neurotoxic thresholds among persons with toxic encephalopathy with subjective hypersensitivity to chemicals.
METHODS
Subjects with symptoms and
The olfactory bulbs were removed surgically from Large White male and female pigs, 10--12 weeks of age. At intervals of 3, 7, 14, 42 and 84 d after bulbectomy, the pigs were sacrificed and portions of olfactory mucosa were removed from the ethmoturbinate and septum regions of the nasal cavity;
Dexamethasone-21-tertiary butyl acetate (dexamethasone TBA) and dexamethasone alcohol at concentrations of 0.2, 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001% were topically instilled into the right eyes of groups of 10 rabbits for 21 consecutive days. Vehicle control and untreated control groups were used for comparative
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to determine if spray-drying could successfully produce microparticles containing the model protein trypsin in a form suitable for inhalation.
METHODS
Trypsin was spray-dried with raffinose from a methanol : n-butyl acetate solvent system (MeOH : BA). The solvent
