The diterpenic labdane 3-[2-[decahydro-6-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-5,ha-dimethyl-2-methylene-1-n- aphthalenyl]ethylidene]-dihydro-4-hydroxy-2(3h)-furanone, chemically diagrammed as ##STR00001## inhibits the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines, activates the PPAR-gamma receptor and diminishes nuclear factor kappa B.
