The composition of the essential oil of the fruits of DIPLOTAENIA CACHRYDIFOLIA was investigated by GC-MS. Thirty-five compounds have been identified. The oil contained alkenes (63.5%), aromatic ethers (18.0%), alcohols (2%), sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (1.1%), aldehydes (0.4%), and ketones (0.1%).
Antimicrobial activity of the essential oils obtained from leaves, root and the seeds of Diplotaenia damavandica Mozaffarian, Hedge & Lamond, an endemic plant to Iran, was determined against 10 microorganisms using the disk susceptibility test as well as measuring minimum inhibitory concentrations.
