OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the characteristics of Bletilla striata microspheres (BSMs) and its effects as an embolic agent in a rabbit model.
METHODS
BSMs were prepared with an emulsifification-cool condensation-chemical cross-linking method. The characteristics of BSMs in vitro were observed.
Natural polysaccharides constitute promising material for nano-drug delivery systems (NDDS) due to their excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility. Previously, novel copolymer micelles (His-SA-BSP) were successfully engineered based on the functionalization of Bletilla striata polysaccharides
Bletilla striata has been used as traditional Chinese medicine for several centuries. In recent years, the quality and quantity of wild B. striata plants have declined sharply due to habitat deterioration and human over-exploitation. Therefore, it is of great urgency to evaluate and protect B.
