A 4-year-old girl with diarrhea-associated hemolytic uremic syndrome (D+HUS) was transferred to the PICU of our center due to deteriorating renal function and neurological involvement. On admission, a comatous child was seen with hypoventilation and she was placed on mechanical ventilation.
In 19 children with acute infantile hemiplegia an ischemic cerebral infarct was found clinically and by serial computertomography. In 11 patients an angiography has been performed in addition. 9 of the children had chronic diseases which are known as predisposing factors for cerebrovascular disease
BACKGROUND
Unilateral anterior spinal artery (ASA) occlusion resulting in bilateral medullary pyramidal (BMP) infarction is a rare and devastating stroke subtype. We present two cases highlighting the diagnostic and clinical challenges of BMP infarction.

BACKGROUND
Animal bites are typically harmless, but in rare cases infections introduced by such bites can be fatal. Capnocytophaga canimorsus, found in the normal oral flora of dogs, has the potential to cause conditions ranging from minor cellulitis to fatal sepsis. The tendency of C. canimorsus
Thromboembolic complications in Crohn's disease are not rare. Most of them are disseminated vascular thrombosis or pulmonary emboli. Cerebral artery thrombosis is a rare complication of Crohn's disease. We describe a 27-year-old woman who had Crohn's disease for 8 years, with exacerbation 3 months
A 26-year old woman, who was diagnosed as having systemic lupus erythematosus at the age of 23 year old, presented diarrhea and headache. She showed severe hypoproteinemia (serum total protein 3.7 g/dl, serum albumin 1.4 g/dl) and hyperlipidemia. She revealed to have protein-losing enteropathy with

To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Longxue Tongluo capsule on patients of atherosclerotic thrombotic cerebral infarction convalescence with blood-stasis syndrome, a double-blind, randomized controlled, multi-center clinical trial was conducted. A total of 160 eligible patients were randomly
Although several risk factors for nosocomial diarrhea have been identified, the detail of association between these factors and onset of nosocomial diarrhea, such as degree of importance or temporal pattern of influence, remains unclear. We aimed to determine the association between This study was designed to evaluate the role and effectiveness of gallium 67 imaging in the diagnosis of acute myocarditis that mimics acute myocardial infarction. Of 315 consecutive acute myocardial infarction patients admitted to our institution over a 4-year period, 5 (2 men, 3 women) were
Background: Acute bilateral internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion has rarely been reported to exhibit an improvement in prognosis. Herein, we report a case of acute bilateral ICA occlusion presenting with bilateral symmetric cortical
The authors describe a case of a patient with massive ileal infarction was treated by large intestinal resection. It is remarkable that significant diarrhea and chronic malabsorption secondary to this intervention did not appear.
Behçet's disease may be a possible cause of both occlusive and aneurysmal arterial involvement as well as recurrent venous thrombosis. A case of Behçet's disease complicated with vascular involvement leading to intestinal infarction is presented. A 41-yr-old man suffering from Behçet's disease for
