Iris varix is rare and little is known about its clinical characteristics. We treated a thrombosed iris varix that simulated an iris melanoma. A 53-year-old man developed a dark brown iris mass and hyphema in his left eye. Ultrasound biomicroscopy revealed a circumscribed mass of the iris stroma.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the effect of an artificial iris implant on the remnant iris.
METHODS
Interventional case series METHODS: Setting: single-centre PATIENT POPULATION: 42 consecutive patients OBSERVATION PROCEDURES: Morphological evaluation over 24±14 months MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Remnant
Varix of the iris as a solitary primary lesion is rare. We report a 31-year-old Indian man with an iris varix who developed recurrent haemorrhages into the anterior chamber which led to secondary glaucoma. An iridectomy was performed and the diagnosis was confirmed histologically. There has been no
The cauterising iris scissors described here are a modification achieved by suitably insulating the standard De Wecker's iris scissors. This modification provides in addition to cutting an advantageous cauterising effect, which could prove useful in the surgery of eye conditions with high risk of
Fluorescein angiography of the iris using filters that eliminated pseudofluorescence was performed. In 10 of 40 non-diabetic healthy eyes, a fine-grained leakage of dye occurred from capillaries of the pupillary margin (PML). In 87 of 94 diabetic eyes with or without retinopathy a PML was present.
A 6-year-old boy with a diagnosis of acute myeoblastic leukemia in remission developed iris infiltration accompanied by uveitis, hypopyon, and vitreous hemorrhage, which was initially unilateral, later becoming bilateral. Pathologically, the eyes showed leukemic infiltrates in the conjunctiva,
Although there have been few direct observations, the etiology of spontaneous hyphema in patients with retinal or ocular hypoxia is assumed to be hemorrhage from a neovascular iris vessel. This paper reports observed hemorrhage from such a rubeotic iris in a patient with central retinal vein
We present a previously undescribed delayed complication attributable to sulcus-fixated posterior chamber lenses with elliptical polypropylene haptics containing a 10 degrees anterior angulation. Clinical signs of this complication are crescent-shaped iris transillumination defects overlying the
Hematopoietic islands of erythroblastic precursor cells with mitotic activity were found pathologically in the distorted iris of a 35-year-old diabetic male. The eye had been enucleated for absolute hemorrhagic glaucoma occurring secondary to central vein occlusion and complicating previous
To describe and document the prevalence and cause of iris aneurysm in feline hypertensive oculopathy.Privately owned cats with systemic hypertension presented for sudden visual deficits and/or hyphema.A retrospective search of The development of miliary aneurysms of the iris is associated with the high risk of cerebral hemorrhage in rabbits with renal hypertension. The high-risk group of hypertensive rabbits in this series was characterized by the formation of iris aneurysms, and this group developed a striking proportion
