Syringaldehyde is one of the active principles from the stems of Hibiscus taiwanensis (Malvaceae) that has been mentioned to lower hyperglycemia. However, the potential mechanisms for this action of syringaldehyde remain obscure. In the present study, we used streptozotocin to induce diabetic rats
