Effect of Nurse-led Education on Parent's Anxiety and Depression on Managing Side Effects of Chemotherapy

Depression (D) and anxiety (A) and stress(S) will be outcome variable. They will be identified by using DASS-21 Scale. The use of DASS-21 Scale is evident in Pakistan . There are 21 questions in this scale equally divided in to three parts having seven questions for Depression, Anxiety and stress respectively. Each question have four level of measurement 0,1, 2 and 3, represent past week experiences. 0 means not applicable to person, 1 means applicable to some degree or sometime, 2 means applicable to considerable degree or good part of time, 3 means applicable to person very much or most of the time. Each question is separate for Stress(s), Anxiety (a) and Depression (d).

Sarcoma, Soft Tissue

Patients will be treated by preoperative or definitive radiotherapy for a limb STS, using an intensity-modulated conformal irradiation (with a static or dynamic technic), over 5 to 7 consecutive weeks. The total dose delivered will be of 50 Gray (preoperative RadioTherapy), or 60 to 70 Gray (exclusive RadioTherapy).

Zidovudine 600 mg will be administered orally 4 times a day or i.v. at 300 mg every 6 hours for 14 days for cycle 1 and for 7 days (up to additional 7 days if ongoing symptoms) for following cycles.

A modification of the Margaria stair climb was used to assess stair-climbing power. participants were instructed to ascend a 12-step staircase as rapidly as possible, with ascent time recorded over the middle four steps (0.66 m) of the climb.

Participants were instructed to walk a 160-m flat course as fast as possible without running. Photoelectric cells and timers were used to determine time to the nearest 0.01 s. The faster of two trials was used to calculate walking speed (m/s).

To simulate daily activities such as carrying groceries or suitcases, participants carried a load equal to 20% of their body weight while walking a distance of 20 m as fast as possible on a flat course.
