Volatile constituents of fresh blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum L.) berries were isolated via vacuum-headspace extraction and analyzed by capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. In agreement with previous studies with frozen fruits, short-chain esters and terpenes were major compound classes.
