Stimulated vagus nerve excretes acetylcholine into the peripheral immune organs such as the spleen, reducing innate inflammation. Here, we investigated whether activation of this "cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway" can be used to reduce cerebral inflammation in a model of hemorrhagic stroke.
